![]() Nux gets close to the Rig as Max attempts to break free. They attempt to get close to the Rig, but Furiosa shakes most of them off. Nux straps Max to the "lancer perch" (lancers are warboys that throw explosive spears during vehicle combat) of his car and eagerly chases Furiosa alongside the others. When he catches Slit taking his steering wheel, he begs Slit to take him and Max, who is acting as Nux's "blood bag", with him so Nux can die in battle, earning him a place in Valhalla. He watches the War Boys collect their steering wheels from a shrine, but cannot go himself as he is in need of blood due to inherent sickness. Nux first appears at the brink of death when the word spreads that Furiosa has taken Immortan Joe's wives. With time away from Immortan Joe and the War Boys, Nux's personality quickly matures. Nux's mentality is initially of that of a child's he is driven by impulse, desperation and absolute religious devotion. He sprays chrome paint in his mouth to show his worship for mechanical things and to get high before committing suicide by flooding his vehicle with gasoline and ramming it into Furiosa's War Rig. Nux's life is almost over for him but then he sees Furiosas' escape as the perfect opportunity to prove his devotion to Immortan Joe and entering afterlife in Valhalla. On his neck he's got two deadly tumors that he affectionately calls "Larry & Barry". He also uses Max as an adrenaline donor while he's driving. The first time we see him he's getting a blood transfusion from Max - whom he calls his 'blood bag'. Nux - much like the rest of the War Boys - is inherently sick and on the brink of dying because of the environment he's been living in. His name was changed to "Nux" because he was a "hard nut to crack." After coming of age and being lucky enough to live this long he turned into a War Boy and became a driver for Immortan Joe, who he, like the other War Boys, views as a god. His religious devotion is represented by engine block scarification on his chest and his desire to "die historic on the Fury Road", which is the desire of most War Boys due to the fact they have "half lives". įanatically believing in the Cult of the V8, the surrogate fatherhood of Immortan Joe, and all things mechanical he desperately wanted to get as close as possible to becoming a machine himself. When his mother died of illness and his father was sent away to perform dangerous work, however, Nux was left alone and caught the eye of the Citadel. His family was unusual as they stayed together out of love and refused to sell one another out for a better life. Nux was a War Pup that was brought up as a mechanic in The Citadel, a "Black Thumb", after he was taken in by the War Boys.

![]() ![]() It limits the steepness of learning curve and allows you to actually get something done in the short term. One of the better approaches for a noob is to start out working on improving something that is already there but needs work. Since the learning curve is fairly steep (you need to learn a 3D modeling tool plus a lot of other stuff that has been mentioned in this thread) it is best to start with something very simple. For someone new to one of the best places to start is doing cockpit work. By working on these less complete aircraft you help move the ball forward on that aircraft. There are currently way too many aircraft in a very incomplete state that need tons of work. This approach has a number of things going for it that benefit the FlightGear community as well as someone new trying to become an active member of the community. It is much easier to do and gives you a giant advantage by the time you create an aircraft completely by yourself. We encourage new aircraft developers to start their 'career' by modifying and enhancing existing aircraft. Whatever you do, keep your initial project limited in scope and within your capabilities. Another alternative is to try modeling some cockpit instruments. It's a good way to learn and quickly benefit the community. The advice to start with modeling ground objects like buildings is sound. Much can be done (and in my opinion should be done) through smart use of textures and normal maps. Excessive 3D modeling is often unnecessary.Cockpit modeling is complex and poses some of the most difficult and frustrating challenges in aircraft modeling. Do not start with cockpit modeling, at least not anything more elaborate than very simple GA aircraft.Avoid anything with lots of compound curves.Avoid anything with lots of external detail.Avoid obscure aircraft where information is scarce.Don't rely on the cheesy little 3-views found all over the Internet- the resolution is too low to be useful and they are often not accurate. If fidelity is a factor, avoid anything where you cannot find clear high-resolution 3-views or engineering schematics. Some suggestions for those relatively new to modeling wanting to contribute models to Flightgear: ![]() There are many things required to develop an aircraft for FlightGear. There is a utility available (now built into FlightGear) called “TerraSync”. When downloading and installing scenery, the files are named according to the coordinates of their lower, left hand corner. From the FlightGear store – If your bandwidth is limited or expensive, you can avoid huge downloads and purchase the complete FlightGear distribution including both Windows and MacOSX installers, the full (and most recent) world scenery set, the entire collection of aircraft, and source code. This is a great way to keep current, but requires an active internet connection, and may trigger quite a bit of bandwidth usage as you fly. v2.0.1 via Terrasync – TerraSync is an in-app service that will download the local scenery ahead of where you are flying.v1.0.1 “SD” – Click on a file to download the corresponding 10×10 degree scenery tile.It consumes about 86Gb compressed and fits on a 4-bluray + 1-dvd. In some places this scenery is referred to as version 2.12 which matches the version of FlightGear that was current at the time this world scenery set was generated. The entire world consumes about 12Gb compressed and fits onto a 3-DVD set. The vast majority of Tomahawks are the initial model, known simply as the PA-38 Tomahawk. In the end, Piper would sell nearly 2,500 examples between 1978and 1982.In those four years of production, the Tomahawk line remained simple and uncomplicated. The result of the research was a new training air-craft that was thoroughly modernized and differentiated from the legacy trainers of the day. The fuel selector and fuel gauges are centrally positioned-and easy to see and reach in the heart of the instrument panel. And, like so many other models in that era, they opted for the style of a T-tail. Although the low-wing de-sign necessitated a fuel pump, Piper positioned the fuel selector in a location on the panel that’s both easy to see and easy to reach. It built the airframe around the popular 112 hp, four-cylinder Lycoming O-235. Piper got to work and created an airplane that me teach of these demands in the form of the Tomahawk. They reasoned that a student cannot fully understand or properly learn spin recovery in an airplane that will automatically return to normal flight when the controls are released. And they wanted an airplane with a sharper, more pronounced entry into stalls and spins. Having dealt with huge blind spots in the form of a high wing positioned at eyelevel, they asked for more visibility. ![]() Having spent decades in cramped cabins, they asked for more space and comfort. The instructors provided plenty of input. It solicited input on what features the perfect one should have and how it should fly. Rather than build an updated Cub or a smaller Cherokee, Piper surveyed thousands of flight instructors across the country to determine what characteristics were most desired in a training aircraft. When Piper set out to claim market share from Cessna in the primary trainer category, it took a fresh approach. The popular Cessna 150and 152 were based upon the old 140, Cubs and Aeroncas had changed little over the years, and-whether equipped with a nosewheel or a tailwheel-most trainers also had high wings, cramped cockpits, and limited visibility. Designīack in the late 1970s, the field of training aircraft was dominated by legacy types that traced their designs back to the 1930s and 1940s. The wide stance of the Piper Tomahawk’s main landing gear provides sure-footed stability. The reputation lingers today, but owners agree that if one is willing to train and fly appropriately, it becomes a non-issue-and a non-issue that enables a prospective owner to obtain a lot more air-plane for a lot less money than other types. For the same price, it might be possible to find a different type that has been freshly restored with a low-time engine, although chances are, it will have fewer seats and less capability.īut what if one type’s perceived weakness is some-thing that can be addressed with awareness and ap-propriate training? In the case of the Piper PA-38Tomahawk, its unique stall and spin characteristics resulted in accidents and a poor reputation early in its production run. One type might provide great cruise speed or pay-load, but less expensive examples might come at the cost of a high-time engine or old fabric. ![]() Deciding on an airplane type with a limited budget is an exercise in balancing strengths and weaknesses. That’s right, Spider-Man : The Videogame, the game all about Spider-Man starring Spider-Man and three other people Spider-Man knows. Funny how memory works, huh? And what’s that belt supposed to be holding up, his skin-tight lycra suit? Wolverine’s the best there is at what he does, and what he does is promote the importance of adequate lumbar support. The most striking thing about it is that I don’t remember Wolverine wearing a huge red belt, but apparently his brown suit did indeed feature a huge red belt. It’s just a nice, large image of all your favourite X-Men characters, plus Dazzler. As for the artwork itself, there’s not much to say about it, honestly. Just looking at this artwork means I’ll have “ Here Comes the Hero” stuck in my head for hours to come. The game itself might not be quite as much fun to play these days as you remember, but that’s a minor consideration because hearing Magneto croak “Welcome to die!” could transform a ny game into a masterpiece. Let’s begin with a prime slab of comic book art that fuses the powerful nostalgia streams of nineties Marvel and arcade beat-em-ups with Konami’s much-loved X-Men. (images from The Arcade Flyer Archive, click for bigger) ![]() This is all a roundabout way of saying here, let’s look at some arcade flyers from comic book videogames! I didn’t have any comic book stores nearby or the financial resources to keep up with monthly series (except the Real Ghostbusters comic, thanks mum) so most of my superhero exposure came from movies, cartoons and, of course, videogames. It was all different when I was a kid, though. It’s bizarre to me that I can be watching a superhero TV show and think to myself “oh cool, Captain Cold’s in this episode, nice,” but that’s the world we live in these days. There have been plenty of mis-steps – I knew Suicide Squad was going to be bad but I was definitely not prepared for just how bad – but there’s a lot of enjoyable live-action superhero stuff out there these days. Comic book superheroes, huh? They’re not just for kids and dorks any more! Okay, so maybe that’s a bit harsh, but superheroes are now one hundred percent mainstream, and as someone who spent a lot of their youth enjoying superhero fiction (although not necessarily comics) it’s an interesting time for the concept of costumed weirdos punching each other. |
